Sometimes…people make me sad.
Thank you Charlyne Yi your thoughtful post on the internet (see below). I think many unhappy (and seemingly happy) people treat the online world as an emotional dumpster for their problems, not realizing there are real people out there with feelings that can be hurt. I think Charlyne is graced and cursed with the gifts of intelligence and sensitivity and that’s why what she does is so thoughtful and engaging to people, and occasionally attracts the pathological scorn of the unfiltered masses online. The trick online, I believe, is to see through the relentless river of bit sludge for the worthwhile gems of wisdom, value, and enlightenment. That’s what I try to do.
After reading an email regarding a dear man who is making efforts to help orphans in Sri Lanka and his difficulties… I soon found myself surrounded in internet sewage of hate mail. And I’m in awe.
